RICHARD WELSH LIBRARY

MISSION

THE MISSION OF THE RICHARD WELSH LIBRARY IS TO SUPPORT THE TEACHING AND RESEARCH NEEDS OF THE FACULTY, STUDENTS AND ALUMNI OF THE NEWSCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN.

ABOUT

COLLECTION

The Richard Welsh library is a well-stocked academic library with a collection of over 15,000 volumes covering all subjects offered at NSAD. The collection is kept relevant and useful through acquisition of new titles to support graduate and undergraduate study. The library also offers a reference colection, an excellent selection of periodicals and access to e-resources including databases and ebooks.

ACCESS

The Richard Welsh Library is open to the wider academic community and the general public. The library provides services to members of the NSAD community. All new library users must have an orientation session. Staff may ask to see your Student ID whenever you are in the library, so please keep it safe.

BORROWING

NSAD students, faculty, staff and alumni, and members of the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) are automatically granted borrowing rights.

COURSE RESERVES

Faculty members often place course related material on reserve for their classes. Reserve materials are located at the library desk and may be checked out by students and faculty for a limited time, generally two hours. To check out reserve material visit the library desk.

REFERENCE AND INSTRUCTION

Librarians at NSAD teach introductory and advanced classes on the critical use and evaluation of academic research resources. Reference and research assistance is also available in the library. Please come in to speak with us if you need academic support.
