Lost and Found Policy

1.       Policy

Items lost in the library or anywhere on the NSAD campus will be kept in the designated Lost & Found box located at the library desk. Items will be kept for a period of thirty (30) days.

2.       Objective
This policy provides a means to hold lost items to enable possible return to rightful owners.

3.       Procedures

Found items can be submitted to staff at the library desk. Staff will log items in the Lost & Found log and note the date they were found. Where an owner can be identified, an attempt to contact them will be made via phone and/or email. Cash or items deemed to be worth over $100 will be given to the Business Office so they can be locked up safely. All items will be retained for 30 days.

  1. Disposal

At the end of 30 days items will be disposed of as follows:

  1. Cash will be considered a library donation
  2. ID cards, credit cards, papers containing personal information will be shredded
  3. All other paper will be recycled
  4. Items with any value will be donated to the Salvation Army
  5. Items with no value will be put in the trash
