Neuroscience for Architecture: READING A SCIENTIFIC PAPER

Resources in the library and online to support research in neuroscience for architecture courses

TIPS

Scientific papers are dense and complex. However they typically follow the standard format known as IMRD:

Introduction: What was the research question? Why was the study undertaken? What was the purpose of the research?

Method: Detailed overview of when, where and how the study was done.

Results: What did the study find? Was the hypothesis proven or disproven?

Discussion: What do the answers imply and why do they matter? What possible future studies might be completed?
